Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Black Nick Fury and of course… The Incredible Hulk.

The Avengers are the shit and everyone knows it. The film was outstanding.

- It broke all the records.

- It made all of the money.

- It proved comic book films and super hero films in particular still have gas in the tank.

- It rocked more balls than anything ever seen ever.

- It literally surpassed its own monumental hype.

In fact, the only reason you didn’t get a review from me was because it would have read something like an obsessive 6th grade girl’s gushing love letter to her favorite pop singer after having her very first orgasm with him as the subject… Graphic, I know. But I want you to understand where I’m coming from.

While making a movie is a collaborative effort, The Avengers, Marvel, and its fans owe a special debt of gratitude to the man that served as both writer and director of this film, Joss Whedon.

Back in 2007, Whedon was working with Warner Bros. to bring Wonder Woman, the greatest female super hero of all time (and only one girls know) to life on the big screen. Unfortunately, creative differences did what they do and the film never happened.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino of “The Jersey Shore” fame has signed a deal with Wizard World that will see himself and his family members starring in their own superhero comic.

Really, man?

Sigh... Really man...

While it seems such a thing would be terrible, Sitch has already beaten all the odds and managed to be entertaining season after season of “The Jersey Shore.” Mike’s antics constantly give the show forward momentum, and I assume his abs keep the girls and boys that like boys coming back each week.

So in an effort to pump the positivity, I have decided to help The Situation out with a few ideas to get him started. Because that’s how “The Dynamo” rolls, playa!

So by now we’ve all seen Hunger Games and reveled in its fantasticness! Yes, I realize that’s not a word, but no I do not care. Anyway, it seems that while fans of the book loved the movie the critics seem to have a problem with Jennifer Lawrence’s body. What the what?!?! It would appear that many critics were bothered by Jennifer’s “curvy” body and one critic went so far as to say the star was “chubby”!  Seriously???? There are many adjectives I would use to describe Jennifer Lawrence but chubby is not one of them. Read More→

Grand Central Publishing said Tuesday that it will publish Stephen Colbert’s new children’s book, I Am Pole (And So Can You!), on May 8.

It is to be an illustrated pro-America story about a flag pole’s search for identity, apparently, and has earned a stamp of approval from acclaimed children’s author Maurice Sendak (who wrote Where The Wild Things Are). Read More→

J.K. Rowling To Pen Adult Novel; Haters Gonna Hate

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series and first-ever self-made billionaire writer, announced Thursday that she is working on her first novel for adults, to be published by Little, Brown and Company in the United States.

The title, plot, and publication date have not been announced (expected later this year), but already the backlash has begun. Read More→

Alvin Schwartz’s frightening, imaginative, and fantastic collection of of tales, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, is being updated and alas, ruined. If you’ve ever picked up the book, there’s no need to remind you of what you remember. The illustrations by Stephen Gammell haunt the reader for years to come. In honor of the 30th anniversary of this book trilogy, the publishers have decided to completely ruin the creepy, authentic feeling of real scary stories by replacing the illustrations.

From the story "Oh, Susanna!". On the left, original art by Stephen Gammell. On the right, the new illustrations by Brett Helquist.

The stories are wildly popular – Schwartz went on to write sequels More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones, keeping children huddled under covers with flashlights for the last 30 years. With the great exhilaration that comes from scaring ourselves (the nightmarish illustrations that have caused many children to begin crying on the spot), yet braving onward, why is Harper Collins changing such an iconic thing?  Read More→

Burning Man (Dr. Seuss?) Propaganda Is Simply Adorbs

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Whatever you think about the Burning Man festival that takes place in Black Rock Desert, NV, each Labor Day, you’ll surely be pleased by this video made by Teddy Saunders. He and his cohorts at the festival attempt to recreate Dr. Seuss’ famous Oh, The Places You’ll Go! using the celebrants and fantastical art installations to tell the story. Who else could properly narrate the whimsical author IRL?

The circulation of LiLo’s entire Playboy pictorial leaked online, pushing up the publishing date to last Friday. Hugh Hefner tweeted Sunday, “The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records.” One wonders why, exactly, when Lilo’s lady parts are already all over the internet, and even the Lilo-as-Monroe thing has been done before. Lohan poses completely naked (I’d call it “light vag”) and was paid a reported $1 million.

Lindsay posed mostly naked as Monroe in New York Magazine a few years ago – for free. Not to mention the shots the paparazzi has caught all of her everything all over everywhere.

“Light vag” after the jump (NSFW).

Veena Malik, Pakastani actress and participant on the Indian television show “Big Boss” (a variation of the reality show “Big Brother”), is no stranger to scandal. Earlier this year, she was accused on Express News of shaming Pakistani culture with her behavior while on the show. The gorgeous actress has broken Pakistani religious and national taboos in the past. She is a target for conservative ire and a heroine to some Pakistani liberals. But she asserts that the photo shoot for the December 2011 FHM Magazine was “morphed” and that she was never nude.

Speaking via telephone on Express News, Veena Malik admitted she had shot for FHM magazine, however the shoot was with clothes on, and none of the poses appearing on the cover were given by her. She claimed that the picture on the cover of FHM was ‘morphed’ and that she would be consulting her media adviser and lawyer before taking any action.

“People must know that I am an actress, and any one can take my picture and morph it,” she said.
